What is Clonazapam?

Clonazapam is mainly used to control seizures and to decrease anxiety symptoms and sometimes is prescribed for other uses. Clonazepam is used to treat seizure disorders and panic attacks. It belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines which act on central nervous system of the human being to produce a soothing effect. This drug works by increasing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the human body.

Clonazepam can be used along with other medications to treat convulsive disorders. It is also prescribed for panic disorder. Clonazepam works best when it is in constant amount in the bloodstream. To keep blood levels as stable as possible, take your doses at regular intervals and try not to miss any dose.

If you are taking Clonazepam for panic disorder you find it makes you sleepy. If you miss a dose, take the dose as soon as possible.

  • Tremor.
  • Uncontrolled body movement.
  • Emotional changeability.

Special warnings about Clonazapam:

  • Do not drive, operate or participate in any dangerous activity that requires full mental alertness if you have taken Clonazapam.
  • Use this medication regularly in order to get the best out of it.
  • Do not take Clonazapam if have any type of seizures.
  • Before taking Prozac, tell your doctor about your medical history.
  • Clonazapam can be habit-forming.
  • Use this medication exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Do not take alcohol while taking this medication.
  • If you stop using this drug abruptly you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as convulsions, hallucinations and tremor.
  • Consult with your doctor before discontinuing or changing your dose.
  • If Clonazepam is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered.
  • Consult doctor before taking Clonazepam if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
